World U23 Ultimate Championships 2010 awarded to Florence, Italy

WFDF is pleased to announce that it has awarded the rights to host the inaugural World U23 Ultimate Championships to the Federazione

Italiana Flying Disc (FIFD) to be held in Florence (Firenze), Italy in the week ending 25 July 2010.  It is anticipated it will be a five or six

day tournament ending on Sunday 25 July.

U23 Worlds will form a bridge for elite representative players between the U19 Juniors Worlds and the open age world championship

competitions.  Holding 2010 U23 Worlds in Italy will especially present a chance for European countries to begin developing their younger

players in anticipation of Euros and Worlds in the next two years, but we know there is strong interest from around the World to compete in

this event. Eligibility is open to all players born in 1987 or later.

2011 European, Asia-Oceania and Pan-American Ultimate Championships – qualifications for 2012

2012 World Ultimate Championships

Competition will include Men's, Women's and Mixed divisions.  Based on early responses from national associations we are expecting 8-12

teams in each division.

The event is supported by the City of Florence, so we expect it will be well embraced by the city population and a great chance to promote

ultimate in Italy.
