Seven positions are becoming available for the upcoming WFDF Elections. 6 positions are for the 2010-2011 period and one is for 2010. The positions to be filled include: Treasurer, Secretary, Overall Committee Chair (one year term), Ultimate Committee Chair and 3 At Large member positions. Applications for candidacy will be accepted until November 30, 2009

WFDF Board of Director elections for the 2010-2011 period
are coming up shortly. Details of the voting period dates and Nominating Committee
will be posted shortly The positions of Treasurer, Secretary, Ultimate Chair, and the three At Large positions are for 2 year terms. The Overall Committee Chair is for a 1 year term. All terms begin on
January 1, 2010. The seven positions that are up for election include:
Treasurer, board member
Secretary, board member
Ultimate Committee Chair, board member
Overall Committee Chair, board member
3 at-large board seats
All interested candidates are asked to submit the following
Nomination by a current WFDF Member in good standing
Desired Position (Treasurer, Secretary, Ultimate Committee Chair, Overall Committee Chair, At-Large Board
Candidate Statement: why you are interested in the
position and why you are qualified (300 words maximum)
Recent resume (CV)
Digital Photo (approx. 200 x 300 pixels)
Display active enthusiasm and commitment.
Serve a global community - all regions, all flying disc disciplines.
Read and refer to the Bylaws and other organizational documents. Make
decisions on behalf of the WFDF mission.
Have regular access to e-mail and the internet. Read e-mail at least
once a week. Expected weekly e-mail volume is approximately 1-3 hours and
could vary depending on time of year. E-mail & votes/polls response 1 week
Communicate WFDF business in fluent English.
Keep board communication confidential. Get author approval to forward.
Inform the Working (Executive) Committee (ExCom) of planned absences
including holidays/vacations as soon as known.
Be available for scheduled conference calls (about 4 per year), which
could be at unusual times due to Directors living in different time zones.
Learn and follow WFDF policies. Work toward creation, update, and approval
of policies for good governance where needed. Be prepared to follow a Conflict
of Interest (COI) policy, which may require reasonable disclosures like
financial dealings with other organizations.
Not to engage in criminal behavior (organizational/corporate). Traffic
tickets, for example, would not be a WFDF concern unless driving a WFDF
vehicle, which we do not have. Properly identify and report relevant criminal
behavior of any WFDF person or WFDF member. We have not had an issue here,
but seen a prominent example in another international sport federation (IF).
Resign if consistently unable or unwilling to meet minimum Board requirements.
Finally, remember the reasons you first started to play flying disc sports.
Keep these alive in your decision-making, among the board, and in your interactions
with WFDF members and the world.

The World Flying Disc Federation is pleased to announce the release of a six-part video series on Spirit of the Game (SotG). The first-ever WFDF Spirit Conference presented by UltimatEvents and sponsored by WFDF was held in conjunction with the World Ultimate Club Championships in August 2014. During this event, community organizers and leaders from all levels, divisions, and global regions met to discuss a variety of issues related to SotG.

The World Flying Disc Federation is pleased to present its 2014 Report of its Development Grants Program and put out the call for new grants applications for 2015. In 2014 a total of US$ 26,739 was committed and the WFDF board has budgeted up to US,000 for 2015, with individual grants limited to no more than US,500 each. WFDF also plans to expand this year its disc missionary program, providing discs to travelers to areas with limited disc activity.

World Flying Disc Federation – Call for Sanctioned Event Bids
WFDF 2017 World Under 24 Ultimate Championships (WU24)
WFDF's Ultimate Committee and Board of Directors are seeking bids from potential host organisers for the WFDF 2017 World Under 24 Ultimate Championships (WU24 2017).
The event is held bi-annually and is comprised of National Teams competing in three divisions. The event (previously named WU23) was last held in 2013 in Toronto and will be hosted in July 2015 in London.

The World Flying Disc Federation is pleased to announce that it has adopted new division names for youth Ultimate championships. Beginning in 2016, the former “Under 23” age category will be designated as the “Under 24” division and the former Juniors “Under 19” age category will be designated as the “Under 20” division. While the actual age limits are not changing, this revision of nomenclature was undertaken to try to minimize confusion about the age guidelines.

WFDF is establishing a new position of Director of Communications and Global Media and is seeking interested candidates. The Director would assist the executive staff and officers in writing press releases, identifying content and managing WFDF’s Facebook and Twitter pages, establishing a youtube and/or other video presence, and ensuring that WFDF takes advantage of the evolving opportunities in social media in order to better communicate with all of WFDF’s stakeholders and audience. This is a volunteer (unpaid) position but this will be a high impact role in raising the visibility of flying disc sports globally within the disc community and the general population.

The Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA) and the World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF) are pleased to announce that the inaugural Team Disc Golf World Championship (TDGWC) will be held in mid-2016, and that they are seeking bids from potential local hosts to organize the event. Today WFDF released an update to the World Ultimate Ranking list for WFDF member nations who have participated in major events over the past four years. This update takes into the account the recent results from the World Championships of Beach Ultimate, held from March 8 to 13 in Dubai. This ranking system provides a benchmark for WFDF’s member associations to understand how they compare against other nations in terms of performance and the depth of their elite Ultimate programs.

The World Flying Disc Federation is pleased to announce that the WFDF Congress has voted to approve Qatar and Kenya as WFDF provisional member associations. A total number of 50 regular member participated in the ballot, totaling 126 out of 132 votes available. With one abstention totaling 4 votes, the new member associations were approved unanimously. The approval of the memberships of the Kenya Flying Disc Association (KFDA) and Ultimate Players Association of Qatar (UPAQ) brings the total WFDF membership to member associations in 60 countries, with another four disc sport organizational members in Beach Ultimate, Freestyle, Disc Golf, and Guts.

Congratulations to the Flying Disc Beach Ultimate Mixed Team from Germany, IWGA Team of the Month for March 2015. The team from Germany spoiled the USA clean sweep at the WFDF World Championships of Beach Ultimate (WCBU) in Dubai. Whilst team USA dominated the field at these World Championships, taking gold in six of the seven divisions of play, Germany secured one title with its win in the mixed gender division and took its first gold medal ever in WFDF-sanctioned World Championship Ultimate play.

WFDF is pleased to announce that the Hungarian Frisbee Association (HUFA) has become a full, regular member of the Hungarian Olympic Committee (HOC), after the unanimous decision of its Congress of March 10, 2015.
“This is great news for the Flying Disc community in Hungary and all friends of our sport around the globe,” stated Robert “Nob” Rauch, WFDF President. “It shows that WFDF consistently keeps growing in terms of National Olympic Committees recognizing our sport on their territory wherever possible and we are happy to see such a great country like Hungary be upgraded to full membership of HOC on our list of member associations being recognized by their NOCs."
