Congratulations to these candidates, who have been elected and agreed to serve as WFDF Directors for the 2006-2007 term:

At Large - Dan Engstrom, Dave Nesbitt, Rue Veitl, Todd Demetriades.
It was an excellent turnout with 100% of eligible members casting ballots; 90% of those on time and counted. And many, many thanks to outgoing board members Erik Hammer, Kim Godwin, and Tami Pellicane for years of WFDF service.

World Clubs eligibility rules released

The WFDF Ultimate Committee has released the Club Team eligibility rules which are to be used for teams wishing to play in the WFDF World Ultimate Club Championships 2006 in Perth.
WUCC2006 team allocations released

WFDF has released the initial team allocations for the 2006 World Ultimate Club Championships in Perth, Australia. These allocations are offered to National Associations who will then inform WFDF and WUCC2006 of the teams they wish to nominate. Please note that WFDF expects in some divisions that not all initial bids will be filled and bids will be re-allocated if/when they become available.
WFDF is asking National Federations who know they will not be able to fill their initial bids to contact WFDF and relinquish those bids. In this way WFDF will be able to get bids to other interested teams as quickly as possible.
WUCC 2006 will shortly start the process of official team registration.

2005 Pan-American Championships Rescheduled

USA comes out on top, earning World Games gold in an exciting ultimate game that was matched point for point up to 12-10 when USA pulled ahead for the win.
Marathon Ultimate record broken

The Leeds Jedi Ultimate Frisbee Club has broken the marathon ultimate world record recently. From 9th June to 12th June 2005 (70hrs 19mins total), the group played back-to-back games of ultimate including the final two games in a torrential downpour. They beat the previous record by almost 9 hours and along the way raised over £1000 for charity.

WFDF’s Board of Directors and Ultimate Committee are seeking bids from potential host organizers for the WFDF 2018 World Junior Ultimate Championships (WJUC). The WJUC is the premier world junior championship event for the flying disc discipline of Ultimate. The event is held bi-annually and is comprised of national teams competing in the Junior Uner-20 Men’s and the Junior Under-20 Women’s divisions. The event was most recently held in 2014 Lecco, Italy and will again be held this summer August, 2016 in Wroclaw Poland.

The World Flying Disc Federation (“WFDF”) is pleased to announce that the WFDF 2018 World Under-24 Ultimate Championships (WU24) will be hosted in the city of Perth (Australia). The event will be held from Sunday, January 7 – Saturday, January 13, 2018, at the facilities at the UWA Sports Park in Perth – Western Australia. The successful bid came from the Australian Flying Disc Federation (AFDA) headed by Simon Wood and Anna Haynes.

WFDF’s Board of Directors and Ultimate Committee are seeking bids from potential host organizers for the WFDF 2018 World Ultimate Masters Club Championships (WUMCC). The WUMCC is the masters club championship event for the flying disc discipline of Ultimate. The event is held every four years and is comprised of masters club teams who are endorsed by their National Federation.

WFDF’s Board of Directors and Ultimate Committee are seeking bids from potential host organizers for the WFDF 2018 World Ultimate Club Championships (WUCC). The WUCC is the world’s largest premier club championship event for the flying disc discipline of Ultimate. The event is held every four years and is comprised of club teams who are endorsed by their National Federation.
Since the tournament in 2014 attracted so many teams, there has been an extensive discussion regarding whether for the WFDF World Ultimate Club Championships in 2018, the Masters divisions should be held separately. To ensure the host has sufficient field and resource capacity the event has been split into two separate 2018 events (WUCC and WUMCC) and hosts are encouraged to bid separately for each event.

The World Flying Disc Federation (“WFDF”) is pleased to announce that its Congress has accepted Egypt as new WFDF member association.
With the acceptance of this membership proposal of the Egypt Ultimate Players Association (EUPA) WFDF now has 68 member associations in 65 countries. Egypt joins Morocco which was also recently approved as a member association in Northern Africa.

WFDF’s Board of Directors and the Freestyle & Overall Committees are seeking bids from potential host organizers for the WFDF 2017 Freestyle & Overall Flying Disc Championships (WFOC)
The tournament will feature competitions in seven flying disc disciplines — Freestyle, Double Disc Court, Discathon, Accuracy, Disc Golf, Distance and Self-Caught Flight and Champions will be crowned for each individual discipline.

The World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF) today has announced the results of its 2015 elections. The WFDF Member Associations voted on open positions on the Board of Directors and on the Ultimate Committee to serve from 1 January 2016 to 31 December 2017.
WFDF President Robert “Nob” Rauch commented: “We are particularly pleased about the interest and high participation of our member associations in this year’s election.” Rauch added “At a stage where the IOC puts great attention towards good governance structures of the International Federations and after having obtained full IOC recognition in 2015 we are happy to see that the WFDF Board composition was confirmed as an extremely qualified and experienced slate of candidates meeting all key requirements of the recognition criteria. We also managed to increase the number of women on the Board to three out of fourteen. As does every International Sports Federation, we depend on the support of volunteers taking on roles and functions within our organization on various levels. I would like to use this opportunity to express full confidence and gratitude for our team of volunteers to be able to manage the work to come. I would like to thank outgoing Board member Vincent Gaillard for his support during the last two years and am happy to announce that we will be able to welcome him back in another important function in our governance structures soon.”

The World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF) is pleased to announce that it has renewed its Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with BULA Ltd (BULA) on the governance of the Flying Disc sport of Beach Ultimate. WFDF and BULA had signed an initial MOU in 2011 and this agreement extends the working arrangement for four years through 2019.

The Board of Directors of the World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF) is pleased to announce that it has appointed Tim Rockwood as Managing Director, Broadcasting and Marketing. Mr. Rockwood’s goals in this newly created position are to secure sponsorship revenues, broadcast coverage, and distribution of high-profile WFDF championship events, beginning with the WFDF World Ultimate Championships being held in London in June 2016.

The World Flying Disc Federation (“WFDF”) is pleased to announce that its Congress has accepted Guam and Morocco as new WFDF member associations. Additionally, the Congress has approved the upgrade for Malaysia to regular membership. With the acceptance of these membership proposals of the Guam Ultimate for All Association (GUFA), the Moroccan Flying Disc Association (MFDA) and the Malaysian Flying Disc Association (MFDA) WFDF now has 67 member associations in 64 countries.
