WUCC Masters Champions Crowned: Boneyard (USA) in Open, Vintage (CAN) in Women’s

In a busy schedule Friday August 8, the first champions were crowned in the WFDF 2014 World Ultimate Club Championships, in the Open and Women’s Masters Divisions.

In the Open Masters Division, Boneyard (USA) defeated Figjam (CAN) 17-8.  In the bronze medal game, Johnny Encore (USA) prevailed over Phat Chilly (AUS) 17-14.

In the Women’s Masters Division, Vintage (CAN) defeated Godiva (USA), who had gone 8-0 in round robin play, 17-13.  In the bronze medal game, Golden Girls (GER) squeezed by Phat Chilly (AUS) 16-14.

WFDF President Robert “Nob” Rauch stated “We congratulate all the medal winners so far on their accomplishments.  But even more so, we laud all of the 160 teams and 4,000 athletes competing at this largest Ultimate world championship event ever for their hard work and discipline and hope they have all achieved their personal objectives.  Further, may they all take away new friendships across the global Ultimate community and memories of an amazing gathering.”

Semifinals and bronze medal matches were played in the three other divisions.

In the semi finals of the Mixed Division, Drag’n Thrust (USA) defeated The Ghosts (USA) 17-12 and Polar Bears (USA) edged out Team Fisher Price (CAN) 17-16.  In the bronze medal game, The Ghosts (USA) beat Team Fisher Price (CAN) 17-13.

In the semi finals of the Women’s Division, Riot (USA) defeated Scandal (USA) 13-11 and Fury (USA) beat Showdown (USA) 17-12.  In the bronze medal game, Scandal (USA) beat Showdown (USA) 17-10.

In the semi finals of the Open Division, Revolver (USA) defeated Johnny Bravo (USA) 16-14 and Seattle Sockeye (USA) dominated Colony (AUS) 17-4.  In the bronze medal game, Johnny Bravo (USA) beat Colony (AUS) 17-13.

The finals for the Mixed, Women’s and Open divisions will be held Saturday, August 8, 2014 at the Stadio Rigamonti-Ceppi in Lecco, Italy.
