Over 200 Disc Golf players from 24 countries across Europe for the 2014 European Disc Golf Championships (EDGC) held in Geneva from 20 – 23 August 2014.  Players from Finland dominated the competition, winning gold in four of the six divisions of play (Open, Women, Masters and Senior Grandmasters).  The Juniors title went to Germany while the Grandmasters title was won by a Spaniard. The event was jointly sanctioned by the World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF) and the Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA).

The Tournament Organising Committee was led by Boris Lazzarotto and Paul Francz who presented an unforgettable four-day tournament on the 18-hole Disc Golf Parcours at the “Centre intercommunal de sports, loisirs et nature Les Evaux in Onex.  “C’est le ton qui fait la musique“ – “It’s the tone that makes the music” – was the slogan for this year’s European Championships and it was a festive scene.

“WFDF is pleased that the EDGC 2014 were such a success and that the Organisers in Switzerland are excited that Championships will have a long-lasting impact on the further development of Disc Golf in Switzerland. We hope that the sanctioning by WFDF contributed to the unique legacy of the event,” commented WFDF President Robert “Nob” Rauch on the EDGC 2014. “We also congratulate Paul Francz on the formation of the newly established European Disc Golf Federation (EDGF), which was formally founded on the occasion of EDGC, and do hope for a fruitful cooperation with our European branch the European Flying Disc Federation (EFDF).”
