WFDF President Robert “Nob” Rauch commented: “We are very pleased about the election of this extremely qualified slate of candidates. We also are excited to be having our first independent (non-disc sports related) board member – Vincent Gaillard – join us at this important juncture in WFDF’s history, having received provisional Recognition by the IOC in May. We also want to thank outgoing board members Kate Bergeron, who served as a board member since 2007, for all of her contributions and Simon Hill, having served as Ultimate Committee chair since early 2011.”
WFDF to establish Working Group on Indoor Ultimate rules and events
09 December 2013
The World Flying Disc Federation is pleased to announce that a Working Group on Indoor Ultimate events and rules will be established by the Board of Directors and it requests nominations from its member associations for participation in the group.
“After having been approached by several member associations to assist in coordinating Indoor Ultimate activity, WFDF is establishing a working group to help organize this discipline,”commented WFDF President Robert “Nob” Rauch. “We are aware that Indoor Ultimate is growing, and our objective is to define a unified set of competition rules and event guidelines for Indoor Ultimate so that it can continue to grow with consistency across the globe.”
Indoor Ultimate is often played in cold weather countries during winter months and it features a smaller playing area, fewer players on each team, shorter stall count and a number of other variations from traditional Ultimate rules because of the limitations of indoor spaces. The Working Group will be composed of representatives from WFDF member countries where there are already Indoor events taking place. Nominations should be made by Member associations no later than 15 December 2013.

WFDF is also making available a Disc Missionary Program, where flying disc athletes travelling to areas where disc sports are not actively practiced may receive a package of 10 discs to distribute. The applicant must provide information about the trip and explain how they intend to introduce disc sports to a new population. Discraft has generously agreed to contribute the discs being made available under these programs.

WFDF to Investigate Feasibility of Introducing Wheelchair Ultimate
10 October 2013
One of the decisions at this year’s Congress in Toronto was to look into developing Wheelchair Ultimate. This program could be introduced by building on activity that already exists and by approaching local adaptive sports organizations and seeking to incorporate Ultimate into their current activities. We have heard of small leagues in New Hampshire and Montreal, and we would like to see if it is feasible to support a broader initiative. We are now looking for information on any current activity that may exist. We would also like to hear from anyone interested in the project willing to work with their local adaptive sports organizations.

The Task Force will have two objectives: (1) Reaffirm WFDF’s definition of Spirit of the Game and review, develop and strengthen existing programs in order to promote a clearer and more consistent understanding of how it should be applied; and (2) Answer the question on how does WFDF ensure that Ultimate athletes play a fair game that is also viewable (interesting for spectators in person and on TV/internet to watch). A 12-person panel has been appointed and are tasked with presenting a report to the 2014 Congress in Lecco. Read more
