The World Flying Disc Federation is pleased to announce that the WFDF 2014 World Ultimate Club Championships (WUCC) 2014 will be hosted in the city of Lecco, Lombardy (Italy). The event will be held from August 2-9, 2014 at the facilities at the Nuova Poncia Polo & Country Club in Lecco featuring 33 Ultimate fields. The finals will be staged in the Stadio Rigamonti-Ceppi, the main stadium of the city of Lecco on August 9, 2014.

The successful bid came from the Ultimatevents s.r.l. group headed by Max Vitali. Ultimateevents has already hosted two WFDF sanctioned Ultimate events in Italy:  the World Championships of Beach Ultimate (WCBU) 2011 in Lignano Sabbiadoro and the World Under-23 (WU23) Ultimate Championships 2010 in Florence. The bid was supported and endorsed by the Federazione Italiana Flying Disc (FIFD), led by President Francesco Franceschetti.

"WFDF is looking forward to what could be the largest ever Ultimate event with up to 160- teams and 3,500 athletes.  We are extremely confident that the experience of the organizing committee under Max Vitali and his staff gained during their last two WFDF-sanctioned events will ensure the success of the WUCC in 2014,” stated WFDF President Robert "Nob" Rauch. “The Flying Disc community in Italy is important to WFDF as one of the fastest growing associations in Europe and we believe that the global community will truly enjoy fully experiencing the tourist area of the Lake Como region of northern Italy.”

"We are very proud that we have been chosen to organize WUCC 2014" stated Max Vitali, Managing Director of Ultimateevents s.r.l. in Italy. "We're very aware of the expectations which players all over the world have of this event. We're also aware of the huge amount of work that lies ahead for us. These expectations are a stimulus for us to create the most international and competitive, as well as the biggest, World Championships in the history of our sport. We can't wait to see all players in Lecco."

The last WFDF World Ultimate Club Championships were held in the city of Prague, Czech Republic, in 2010. WUCC 2014 expects 140-160 teams in five divisions of competition:  Open, Women's, Mixed, Masters and Women’s Masters.
