WFDF is pleased to announce that the WFDF 2018 World Masters Ultimate Club Championships (WMUCC 2018) will be staged in Winnipeg, the capital city of Manitoba, Canada from Sunday 29th July to Saturday 4th August, 2018 at Little Mountain Sportsplex and Independent Jewelers Ultimate Park. The tournament organizing committee (TOC), Manitoba Organization of Disc Sports, is a non-profit sports organization which has hosted the largest ever Canadian Ultimate Championships as well as several events annually with more than 50 teams in attendance.

Following the WFDF 2014 World Ultimate Club Championship (WUCC) in Lecco, Italy, where the event attracted a record 160+ teams and nearly 4,000 athletes, WFDF made the decision to separate out certain divisions for the events for 2018. The WFDF 2018 WUCC will be comprised only of the Men’s, Women’s and Mixed divisions, while the WFDF 2018 World Masters Ultimate Club Championships (WMUCC) will be held separately and will be comprised of Master Men’s, Master Women’s, Master Mixed and Grandmaster Men’s divisions.

“WFDF believes that showcasing our various masters divisions of play will make for a sensible and fun format,” stated WFDF President Robert “Nob” Rauch. “While the decision to separate out our masters’ divisions was in part driven by logistical constraints, we also believe that masters’ aged athletes have slightly different priorities that can be best addressed in a separate event; these include interest in alternative accommodation and food options, family-friendly entertainment, and other elements geared to a more mature group, while still providing incredible competition on a world stage.  Separately, this will be the first time that Winnipeg has hosted a WFDF event and we are pleased to be invited by an experienced tournament host with such incredible facilities.”

Event Director and head of the TOC Sean Seywright commented that “Manitoba Organization of Disc Sports is extremely excited to be hosting the WFDF 2018 World Masters Ultimate Club Championships in Winnipeg. Being able to take a sport we love to the international community and to showcase our city and sport to the world is a great gift and honor. Hosting WMUCC will be a great extension to the regional development and integration work which has been our focus over the past years. Working with other provinces and our national body to showcase the game of Ultimate will be very gratifying.”
