The World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF) will hold their 2020 Annual Congress in virtual format due to the Coronavirus pandemic. WFDF President Robert “Nob” Rauch confirmed the action in the official invitation for the Congress which will be held on 15 August 2020. Delegates from many of the 89 Member Federations from 87 countries are expected to attend in what is a response to the current global crisis.

“WFDF, in a move to prevent delegates from any infection risk, has decided to hold its annual Congress by videoconference. This will have an additional advantage as all Federations can attend the occasion virtually, which might well result in the highest Congress attendance in WFDF’s history,” commented WFDF President Robert “Nob” Rauch. “We had a number of our members attend our 2019 Congress 2019 in Alataguse (EST) online so we feel quite confident that we can make this work without problems.”

The Congress was originally scheduled to be held just prior to the WFDF 2020 World Ultimate and Guts Championships (WUGC) in Leeuwarden (NED) in July 2020. Those championships were postponed to 2021 due to the Coronavirus pandemic, which also forced WFDF to cancel the WFDF 2020 World Junior Ultimate Championships in Malmö (SWE) in July and postpone its WFDF 2020 World Masters Ultimate Championships in Gold Coast (AUS) in September.

The Annual Congress, in addition to covering the usual administrative and annual business issues, will include important discussions on the plans and perspectives of WFDF on return to normal play and scheduling events in 2021 and onwards.
